First, the thing that decides whether this will work
A contest needs around 800 photos to produce a ranking anyone can trust. In practice that means a club whose members will each submit several photos. If your club is smaller than that, talk to us anyway — we can add photos to reach that number — but it is the first thing we will ask you about, so it is also the first thing on this page.
Why a closed contest is useful to a school
Your members submit to a contest only your club can see. Everyone judges. The ranking then shows who is improving, and by how much, without anyone having to write a critique.
Most photography courses provide recorded lessons and stop there. Nobody ever tells the student whether their photos actually got better. This does, and it does it with a measurement rather than one person’s opinion.
Two packages
Small package — $1,750
- Three contests, one after another, across six months.
- Your club’s profile on the Fotovea website while the contests run, and for six months afterwards.
- A reel about your contest on our social channels.
- Six posts telling people about your club and its contests.
Premium package — $2,500
- Five contests across twelve months.
- Everything in the small package, plus your club marked as a Premium Partner on its profile.
- Three reels instead of one.
- Ten posts instead of six.
How a contest runs
- You tell us the theme.
- We set the contest up for you.
- You send us the photos and their details.
- We create accounts for your members, or one account for the whole club, whichever suits you.
- We upload the photos.
- Voting opens, and we invite people to judge.
These packages are arranged directly with us and do not go through the app stores.
